moving right along...putt...putt

I spoke too soon about the last layer of floor leveler. It turned out that it didn't cure properly so Aaron had to scrape up the top layer and redo it plus 1 more. Arg! I just want a washing machine! We had to make sure to wait the proper amount of time so it would cure all the way. So we got a few other projects done.
We painted the living room finally!! What a relief to have that minty green gone!

Since we were still waiting, while I painted the living room, Aaron tore into the kichen. Literally.

The cabinet came down along with part of the ceiling. Don't worry though- it was intentional. A slight modification is necessary for the new design.

The view from the kitchen is so much better now that the cabinet is gone. Or at least it will be when there isn't a washing machine in the middle of the room! Later he got to work patching that up.
Next we replaced our giant ceiling fan with cool track lighting. The pieces don't come pre-bent so Aaron took on that project himself.

It was a little trickier than the box led us to believe, but we worked it out. It looks so good! The fan is going to our bedroom to replace the white one we had in there.

The floor was finally dry enough to prep the closet. I got it painted, then we drained the hot water tank again so we could get the floor under it...And then the floor went in!
And most importantly our dearly missed washer/dryer! What a beautiful sight.

With that back in place Aaron set to work organizing the living room. It's not your conventional set up, but it feels great to us!

Next the kitchen!

A little at a time

We are plugging away little by little and layer by layer. Aaron put the sub-flooring down in front of the bathroom and started the leveling process. I must admit I was a little sad to see the plank bridge we had over the open beams go... Especially when I realized we couldn't get to the bathroom at all with the wet leveling stuff on the floor! On top of that, Aaron had to drain the water tank so he could jack it up and level it out.

That left me washing my wash from a bowl.

Leveling the floor by the bathroom took 4 layers of self leveler! I think we are on our last layer now. Which means pretty soon we can start laying the floor!
Meanwhile, Joanna and I set to work on her bedroom.

It is a really pretty soft gray.

Next we started on her bed frame. I got it at a garage sale for $30. It looked like this...

I turned it over, took off the wheels, sanded it down...

and then we stained it Ebony...

Next we will be painting the living room! Yay!!

Our bedroom is Done! (ish)

Our first order of business when we moved in was to get the master bedroom done so we could move our bed in there along with anything else we needed to get out of the way. As you can see, there was a lot of preliminary work that had to happen before we could get to the good stuff.
But finally the floor was leveled and yesterday it was time for the carpet!First comes the padding...

Then unrolling the carpet. Not an easy task in a little room.

Note* double check your measurements!! I forgot to include the closet! Yikes! It worked out ok though.

The carpet has a really subtle pattern in it...

Here is the finished product! I can't wait to decorate! The walls are wood smoke gray and the nook and ceiling are a soft yellowy tan. It is so peaceful and beautiful, Ahhhh. (This photo isn't great, I'll get a better one.)

Progress

WHEW! Well we have been working away and we are making progress.
I've gotten almost all the lovely wall paper border down.

Aaron got the new sub-flooring down in our bedroom.

Once that was done we needed to paint. But first I had to choose a color. It was so hard! The minty green that was already on the walls really distorted the colors. It took 9 samples to figure out one that we both liked.

By the time we decided Lowe's and Home Depot were closed, so what else could we do but go to Walmart! Joanna and I worked till the wee hours of the morning painting.

The next morning Aaron put the self leveling stuff down to try to cure the wheelchair ramp effect we getting going into the bedroom.

With the bedroom out of the way for now, we were able to focus on the huge pile of garbage we accumulated.

We loaded it up and headed to the dump!

That was an ordeal- it is about 45 min away and it was super windy.
After that, we unloaded our storage unit and piled it up in our "dining room"
That didn't leave much room for eating, so we made due with what we had.
